Frequently Asked Questions

What types of photo sessions do you offer?

Most all of my work is centered around animals. I am a life-long animal lover, and I have a knack for working with them, so it was just a natural progression for my business. My most common sessions are pet portraits sessions in which I shoot just animals or animals and their humans together. I do offer a limited amount of lifestyle type sessions as well. These include: Couples/engagement sessions, Elopements, and family photography. Please visit my contact page to inquire about availability.

How long does it take to get my photos after an event or photoshoot?

Private Photoshoot:

Turn around time is approximately 2 weeks from the day of your shoot to the day that your photo gallery is emailed to you for viewing. During slower times of the year I am often able to deliver well within these parameters, but the standard 2 weeks allows me to give a more accurate date of completion even during peak season.

Event Photography:

If you are waiting to see photos from an event the I have shot (such as a dog sporting event), your photos will be uploaded within 2 weeks of the last day of the event. Depending on the sport, I can shoot up to 10,000+ images per day of the event. As you can imagine, this takes a bit to sort through! Once images are ready to be posted to the event gallery, I will send out an email to the participants of the event with all of the details on how to go about viewing and purchasing your images. If I do not have your email, I will not be able to send you gallery information, so please make sure to include that information when you sign up for photos!

Can I have the unedited versions of my photos?

I don’t normally sell raw or straight out of camera images because they don’t accurately represent my work as an artist. Every image that gets shared or posted becomes a direct advertisement of my services, so I try to keep them consistent and within my style. Im happy to have a discussion on what you may have been hoping for in your edits though! Some additional edits such as object removals may come at an additional fee, depending on the amount of time they will take. Feel free to shoot me an email to discuss any of these things!

If you are absolutely adamant about having your unedited images. You may purchase them for $75 per image.

Can I add my own edits to my photos after I receive them?

For the aforementioned reasons, I really prefer that images I deliver as final edits are not further altered. I'm still human, and when I see that people put filters over my images it makes me feel like I didn't meet their expectations. I try really hard to give everyone an honest idea of what to expect from their experience with me, and I am always okay with folks going a different route for their photo needs. If I feel like I'm not a good fit for a client, I will tell them. I want to connect with people who I can freely create with, and who will be super happy with the type of work I deliver. If someone further edits my work, it tells me I didn't do well enough for them. I can't stop you from editing your photos, but I would ask that if you do feel the need to edit your photos, and its nothing that you would like me to try and fix, please do not tag me in those images as they are not an accurate representation of my art. Also, it just hurts my little feelers to see people do it.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes!

I take photos because I want people to have their memories. While I still need to be compensated for my time and resources, I do try to make it as attainable as possible for people to purchase their photos. For my event photography, I offer payment plans on any purchases more than $300. Depending on the total amount of your purchase, it will be split into either 2 or 3 equal monthly payments. Your photos will be delivered at the time of your final payment.

I also offer payment plans on gallery purchases for private sessions. In this case, you will receive the included amount of photos that you have already paid for in your session fee as soon as they are completely edited. These photos will be chosen by you, so that you have access to a few of your favorite images while you wait for your gallery. The rest of your gallery will be delivered upon final payment.

You are welcome to pay off your payment plans ahead of time to receive your photos sooner! If you plan to do this, I ask that you give me some notice so that I can make sure your photos are completed by your final payment date. Please contact me to set up a payment plan or if you have any questions on them!

How long will my photos be available for?

I guarantee galleries to be up and available for 60 days from the day they are posted. Although most are up for much longer than that, I cannot promise that I will not need to remove certain photos to make room for other events. Please make sure that you save your images to more than one source for safe keeping. Photos and galleries older than 60 days that have been archived are subjected to a retrieval fee of $20 up to a year after the original post date. After one year, additional fees may be applied. Again, It is not guaranteed that your photos will be available beyond the 60 day window.

Can I use my photos for contests or publishings such as breed magazines, digital flyers, stud ads ect?

You may! I have many publishings in breed magazines, various ads/flyers and even a couple of dog training books! I love to see my work out and about in the world. However, you must receive express permissions from me to do so. Which means you should send me an email or a text of the photo(s) you would like to use, and what the intended use is for.

There are several reasons for this:

1) First and foremost, if you are using your image for any kind of publication, I want to make sure you have the most optimized version of the image. I can work with publishers on crop ratios, color grading, image size and other important export settings that make sure your photo turns out perfectly.

2) I want to make sure that whomever is publishing my work will be giving me appropriate credit for my image(s). Often times these publications make profits off of the articles and ads they include. While I don't typically ask for compensation for the use of my images, I do always ask for credit in the form of a hyperlink, watermark, copyright statement ect. I am happy to work this out with whomever is wanting to use the photos in questions- you don't need to do anything!

3) I hate that I have to even write this, but it is an unfortunate circumstance I have experienced multiple times now with my work.

My clients often like to include really awesome gear in their photoshoots such as a custom collar, a cool toy, or a snazzy working harness. I LOVE that ya'll bring these pieces with you as it adds a very unique element to your shoot that can't be replicated. The problem is when the companies who make these unique pieces see your photos that I have taken, and they use them without permission for advertisement. One of the services I offer is product photography for dog gear companies, so when a company saves one of my images from your posts and uses it as free marketing/advertisement, often without even tagging me or even going so far as to cut my watermark out of a photo, it hurts my business (and to be honest.. my feelings.) I have many great relationships in the community with gear makers. But in the age of social media there is a huge lack of understanding from people on what constitutes creative property and the tactful way to go about asking an artist/photographer how they can use their work. Again, if you wish to use your photo for any kind of contest, or if you wish to submit it to a brand/gear maker, please let me know so that I can make sure I know where my photos are being used. I appreciate your help in this!

Does my dog need to be trained before our shoot?

It certainly helps to have a well-mannered dog for a photoshoot. Having a dog that knows basic obedience, is off-leash trained and/or knows some tricks makes pictures extra special and really opens up the possibilities of what we can create! If you are a proactive owner who wants to train a few cool poses for your shoot, these are some of my favorites:

  • Head down
  • Sit Pretty
  • Stand/Stay in place
  • Sit/Down in place
  • Jump up and over different objects and surfaces such as rocks, logs and benches
  • Front paws only on something (this is also called touch command)
  • Fetching a frisbee or a ball is always a great action shot too!

If you dog doesn't have a whole lot of training, that's okay! It will definitely limit some of our locations and poses, but 99.7% of the time I can still get some great reactions and expressions from your pups.

*Reactive dogs are welcome for photoshoots as well* Please contact me to discuss further.
